DUSHANBE, February 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – An Afghan drug trafficker was killed in a shootout between Tajik border guards and a group of armed Afghan traffickers that took place on the Tajik-Afghan border in Khatlon province on January 28, according to the press center of the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

“Tajik border guards on a routine patrol spotted a group of armed Afghan drug traffickers who were illegally crossing the border river in the Hamadoni district Thursday afternoon,” said Muhammad Ulughkhojyaev, a spokesman for the Main Border Guard Directorate. “As a result of an exchange of fire between the border guards and the trespassers, one of the trespassers was killed.”

According to him, one kilogram of heroin and 15 kilograms of hashish were found on the spot.
