DUSHANBE, February 16, 2016 Asia-Plus – A court in the Vahdat Township sentenced Firouz Tabarov, the son of Tajik lawyer Ishoq Tabarov who has defended the jailed Tajik tycoon Zayd Saidov, sentenced to 13½ years in prison at the end of last week, according to the

Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service

.

The sentenced reportedly followed his conviction on charges of public calls for the forcible overthrow of or change to the constitutional order in Tajikistan (Article 307 of Tajikistan’s Penal Court) and recruiting mercenaries for fighting in Syria (Article 401).

Firouz Tabarov was detained in summer last year on suspicion of drawing up papers of a Tajik national for traveling to Syria.

“The verdict is unfair and I am going to appeal to the higher court,” Ishoq Tabarov told

RFE/RL’s Tajik Service

in an interview.

Meanwhile, some experts consider that Firouz Tabarov’s trial is a pressure on his father, who has represented Zayd Saidov and his relatives in court since spring of 2013.
