DUSHANBE, April 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – Two residents of the Jilikul district in Khatlon province have been detained on suspicion of attempting to blow up the building of the Khatlon regional police department in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province.

Shamsiddin Fathiddinov, 30, and Samoviddin Saymuhididnov, 28, were shown on Tajik national TV channel “Safina” on March 31.

It was noted that both of them traveled to Iraq from Russia.  In Iraq, they were reportedly fighting alongside Islamic State militants.

They recently returned from Iraq to Tajikistan via Turkey and Russia.

They said that on the instruction of the Islamic State organization they were to have driven a car loaded with gas cylinders into the Khatlon police department building.

They added that the Islam State organization promised to pay them for that the amount equal to the cost of ten cars.
