DUSHANBE, April 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – According to the Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), the first quarter of this year has seen eight engagements between Tajik border guards and armed drug smugglers along the Tajik-Afghan border.  Five trespassers were reportedly killed and two other wounded.

54 cases of violation of Tajikistan’s border and 34 cases of violation of the border regime have been reported over the same three-month period.  126 violators of Tajikistan’s border and 73 violators of the border regime have been detained over the report period.

January-March this year, Tajik border guards together with representatives of the other Tajik power-wielding structures have carried out 17 special operation.

Over the first three months of this year, Tajik border guards have seized nearly 300 kilograms of narcotics, 12 firearms and 200 bullets of different caliber, the source said.
