DUSHANBE, June 16, 2016, Asia-Plus – Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CES) under the Government of Tajikistan, has held meetings with representatives of the World Bank and Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, an official source at CES told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.

The main purpose of the meetings was for Nazarzoda to discuss with them issues related to further expansion of cooperation on prevention and mitigation of effects of natural and technogeneous disasters.

Thus, Nazarzoda and Joaquin Toro, Regional Coordinator for Disaster Risk Management-Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, discussed issues of training and retraining of personnel for the Tajik emergency management agency, strengthening of potentials of the CES Information and Analytical Center and Tsentrospas (search and rescue team), establishment of crisis management centers in Dushanbe and the regions, and the CES proposals on further development of them.   

Nazarzoda and Takashi Kamada, Charge d’Affaires at Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, discussed mechanisms of beginning of implementation of the Japanese-funded project on strengthening of potential of disaster risk reduction and response in Tajikistan, the source said.

They reportedly also discussed the issue of establishment of an international center for training and retraining of personnel for relevant agencies of Afghanistan and neighboring counties on the basis of the CES Training Center in Dushanbe.
