DUSHANBE, July 4, 2016, Asia-Plus — The CIS member nations are expected to pay considerable attention to the issue related to activities of Islamic State (IS) terrorist group and problems of “foreign militants.”

According to the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS inter-MFA consultations to discuss cooperation between the CIS nations in addressing new challenges and threats, opportunities of coordination of approaches in the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations will take place in Moscow on July 5.

The consultations’ agenda reportedly includes issues related to anti-terrorism cooperation between the CIS member nations in a multilateral format, activities of the IS militant group and problems of “foreign militants.”

The meeting participants are expected to discuss ways of countering radicalization, money laundering and terrorist financing.

A special attention will be paid to the international information security issues, the CIS Executive Committee says.

Representatives of foreign ministries and other interested agencies of the CIS member nations as well as representatives of a number of the CIS institutions have been invited to attend the consultations.

Meanwhile, the second session of an expert group on coordination a draft statement by the CIS heads of state on further steps to counter IS and international terrorism will take place in Minsk, Belarus from July 5-6.
