DUSHANBE, July 11, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Tajik authorities have expanded campaign to prevent radicalization of youth.

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, Khudoberdi Kholiqnazar, revealed on July 11 that the Tajik authorities have expanded campaign to prevent youth from joining extremist organizations.

“Agitation teams have been set up in all regions of the country to carry out explanatory work among youth,” Mr. Kholiqnazar said, noting that unemployed youth are the most vulnerable group for radical propaganda and recruitment.

Tajik think tank head noted that Tajik youth were not well aware of Islam.  “Because of poor knowledge of Islam, some of Tajik youth are victims of radical propaganda and recruitment,” Kholiqnazar said.

He further added that representatives of the Security Council of Tajikistan jointly with specialists from the Center for Strategic Studies were preparing Tajikistan’s national program to prevent violent extremism leading to terrorism.
