“A meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with heads of power-wielding structures and law enforcement agencies that took place on Monday discussed, first of all, events that recently took place in Kazakhstan and Armenia — gun attacks targeting a police station and a facility of the Kazakh Committee for National Security in Almaty and the hostage-taking incident in Yerevan,” Ghoib said.

According to him, the president ordered to strengthen fight against extremism and terrorism.

We will recall that President Emomali Rahmon convened on July 18 a meeting in Dushanbe of senior police and security officials to discuss efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking, provide supremacy of law, and strengthen border security.  The heads of the country”s law enforcement agencies reportedly briefed the president on their efforts to investigate and prosecute criminal cases related to organized crime, etc.

Emomali Rahmon called on the senior security officials to be “politically vigilant and provide security of the state and the people.”

He also ordered them to take measures to strengthen Tajik-Afghan border security and improve combat preparedness of Tajikistan’s armed forces so that they could counter “modern threats and challenges.”
