The Agency for Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan warns about the possibility of a descent of powerful mudflows in mountainous areas of the Republic in the second half of this week.

"In the period from 8th to 11th of September due to high temperature in selected mountain areas can appear glacial mudflows", – stated in the message of weather forecasters.

Glacial mudflows are the most powerful floods in the mountainous areas. The formation of such debris flows is connected with the violation of stability of the glacial moraine complexes: the liquid component of the flow is formed mainly by glacial melt waters.

According to the data of Agency of Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan, the temperature in the mountain regions of the Republic in these days will exceed 30 degrees.

According to the Committee of emergency situations under the government of the RT, about 50% of the mudslides and floods in Tajikistan occur in the districts of Republican subordination.
