Tajik President Emomali yesterday evening met in Yerevan with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon and Sargsyan discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between their countries.

They reportedly expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Tajikistan and Armenian within international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, CIS, OSCE, and CSTO.

Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to Armenia for supporting Tajikistan’s membership in the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Tajik president also appreciated Armenia’s support for strengthening of Tajikistan’s southern border security within the CSTO framework.  

The two sides paid a special attention to further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Armenia. 

Rahmon and Sargsyan also exchanged views on a number of international and regional problems being of mutual interest, including the current situation in Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

Legal foundation of friendly relationship between Tajikistan and Armenia includes more than 30 documents cooperation. 

Tajik president Emomali Rahmon arrived in the Armenian capital Yerevan to attend the session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (SCTO) that is taking place there today.
