Dushanbe legislature (Majlisi) continues targeting streets with names of Russian and Soviet origin. 

Dushanbe local council has made a decision to rename sixteen streets in the city.  Some of them will have their former Tajik names restored, some will be named after historic Tajik figures, and others will be given new Tajik names.

Thus, Sovetskaya Street will be renamed Alokhon Afsahzod Street, Julius Fucik Street will be renamed Mirali Mahmadali Street, Shaumyan Street will be renamed Suhrob Sharipov Street, Alexander Matrosov Street will be renamed Rustam Amaki Street.  

Alexei Tolstoy Street will be renamed Yakkabogh Street, Studencheskaya Street — Shukufon Street, Vorovsky Street — Shifo Street, 40th Anniversary of October Street – Furuzon Street, Dobrolyubov Street – Sadoqat Street, Shestopalov Street – Dilkusho Street, Goncharov Street – Gulrez Street, Pavlov Street – Guldast Street, Gastello Street – Guzarbogh Street, Sergey Lazo Street –  Bodomzor Street, Babushkin Street – Bakhtobod Street, Komsomol Street – Arghuvon Street.
