Tajikistan has drawn up the list of export goods it could offered Uzbekistan.

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Shavkat Bobozoda, noted on February 13 that a joint Tajik-Uzbek working group for industrial cooperation has been set up.

“We have drawn up the list of industrial goods we could export to Uzbekistan,” the minister noted.

According to him, the list includes primary aluminum, ores, cotton fiber, building materials (cement), fresh and dried fruits, carpets, alcohol drinks, untreated leathers, fabrics, electricity, cocoons, raw silk and so forth.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan last year valued at 126 million U.S. dollars, which was 82 percent more than in 2016.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Uzbekistan estimated at US$57,000 and Tajikistan’s imports from Uzbekistan worth US$69 million.

Recall, the next exhibition of Uzbek industrial goods is expected to take place in Dushanbe next month.

The previous exhibition of Uzbek industrial goods was held in the Tajik capital in April last year.  The fair that was held in Dushanbe from April 17 to 20 was the first of its kind since independence.  The goods on display at the Poytakht-90 trading house ranged from the small — everyday products like candy, fabrics, medicine and footwear — to bigger-ticket items like buses, cars, air conditioners and refrigerators.  The fair served as a showcase for around 160 Uzbek companies.

Tajikistan held an exhibition of its industrial goods in Tashkent from October 11 to 14.  Some 150 Tajik companies participated in the exhibition that took place at the Uzexpocenter.  They put on display their achievements in mechanical engineering, mining, light and food industries, and aluminum production.  The preference was given to products of the food industry.
