Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has congratulated German Chancellor Angela Merkel on her victory in Sunday’s elections, which gave her a fourth term at the helm of her country.

In his message of congratulations, Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted that expansion of cooperation with Germany is one of the main directions of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.   

He expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany will continue expanding in the future as well.  

Angela Dorothea Merkel (born July 17, 1954) is a German politician serving as Chancellor of Germany since 2005 and leader of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2000.  Merkel has been widely described as the de facto leader of the European Union, the most powerful woman in the world, and the leader of the Free World.
