The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) Board yesterday discussed amendments proposed by the government to the country’s law on public servants.

The amendments aim at improving the mechanism of declaration by public servants and members of their families of their incomes, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on State Structure and Local Government, Abdurahim Kholiqzoda, said the amendments had been worked out by the government in line with the plan of actions for implementation of the Corruption Prevention Strategy designed for 2013-2020.

According to him, the amendments provide for implement of the mechanism of preparation by public servants and members of their families of their income declarations.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon Board also discussed a loan agreement between the Kulob State Unitary Enterprise Khojagii Manziliyu-Kommunali (KMK — agency responsible for water supply and wastewater services) and the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBRD) on the solid waste management in Kulob, a guarantee agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the EBRD on the Kulob solid waste management project and a grant agreement between Kulob City and the EBRD on Kulob solid waste management project, Sultonov said.

Besides, the Board discussed a loan agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Kuwait Fund for Development on the Kulob-Qalai Khumb Road rehabilitation project and a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Jordan on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
