A government session, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, took place on July 30.  The meeting focused on issues related to investigation launched into the deadly incident that took place in Danghara district last Sunday.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the meeting started with a minute of silence to commemorate the victims of Danghara’s deadly incident.

Prosecutor-General Yusuf Rahmon, Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda and the chief of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) Saymumin Yatimov reported on the results of work carried out on this case.

According to them, criminal proceedings have been instituted and several suspects have been detained.

Meanwhile, measures to provide security and maintenance of public order have been toughened across the country.  In particular, security measures have been toughened at strategic facilities and at the entrances to the city.

The head of state ordered to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring those guilty to justice.

Recall, four foreign cyclists, including two Americans, one national of Switzerland and one national of the Netherlands, were killed and three others injured during a bike tour in Danghara district on July 29.  They were attacked by at least one assailant with a gun and knife after being run down by a vehicle.
