The 24-year-old resident of Vakhsh district in Khatlon province has been detained on suspicion of killing his 23-year-old wife.

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the tragedy occurred on March 24.  The man reportedly inflicted three stab wounds on his wife following family quarrel.  The woman died on the spot.   

In order to conceal the crime, the man reportedly stashed her body beneath the floorboards of their home.

Forensic examination has shown that the killed woman was in the third or fourth month of pregnancy, the Interior Ministry’s website says.

Another case of domestic violence was registered on the same day in Hisor.  Resident of the Sherobod jamoat that is subordinate to Vahdat Township, Saidbek Jourayev, struck his wife and step-daughter with an ax.  They reportedly sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.
