The 19-year-old son of owner of Dushanbe’s Sultoni Kabir market has been detained over fatal traffic accident.

According to the Interior Ministry’s office in Dushanbe, Kabir Kabirov was detained in the morning of March 24 and he is currently being held in the pretrial detention facility in Dushanbe.

At the same time, the Interior Ministry’s office in Dushanbe denied reports that Kabir Kabirov had been in a state of drunkenness and the accident had been caused by illegal street race as unfounded.

Recall, two persons were killed and two others injured on March 23 as a car backed into a pole.

The accident took place in the night.  Kabir Kabirov apparently lost control of his Lexus 450 and crashed into a pole in the downtown Dushanbe.

As a result of the accident, two his passengers – Saidjaffar Saidov, 19, and Nekzod Sahobiddinov, 19 – were killed and one more passenger – Saidvali Ubaidulloyev – sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.  Doctors say he is in serious but stable condition.
