Rolling blackouts still going on in some areas of Tajik capital

Rolling blackouts are still going on in some areas of Tajik capital and four streets and eleven neighborhoods in Dushanbe will be left without electricity for seven hours today in connection with routine maintenance work on power stations in these areas, according to the Dushanbe electricity supply network.

“Today, electricity supply will be cut off to Rahmon Nabiyev, Shapkin, Qahhorov and May 1st streets from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in connection with routine maintenance work,” said an official source at the Dushanbe electricity supply network.  “Besides, electricity supply will be cut off to Mirzobek, Hazrati Mavlono, Guliston, Buston, Qarotegin, Khorog, Yakkatut, Falakon, Ispechak, Chortut and Navrouz neighborhoods.”

It is to be noted that practically every day, various streets in the Tajik capital have been left without electricity since the beginning of the year.  Barqi Tojik (Tajikistan’s state-run power utility company) has explained these power outages by maintenance work on Dushanbe’s power substations.
