The Dushanbe-Khujand highway has been temporarily closed for traffic after a series of avalanches have blocked the highway in some places.

The Dushanbe-Khujand highway, has been temporarily closed for traffic after avalanches occurred today morning on the 55th, 62nd and 73rd kilometers of the highway, says the press center of the Branch of Innovative Road Solutions (IRS) in Tajikistan, which operates the toll on this highway.    

The work on clearing the highway of snow is under way.  

The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan advises people not to travel to mountain areas unnecessarily.
