Obi-Zulol, a water bottling plant in Tajikistan, will produce juices and smoothies in doypacks.

A smoothie is a drink made from pureed raw fruit and/or vegetables, typically using a blender.  A smoothie often has a liquid base such as water, fruit juice, plant milk, and sometimes dairy products (milk, yogurt, ice-cream or cottage cheese).  Smoothies may be made using other ingredients such as crushed ice, sweeteners (e.g. honey, sugar, stevia, or syrup), whey powder, nuts, nut butter, seeds, tea, chocolate, herbal supplements, or nutritional supplements.

A doypack is a sealed plastic bag that is designed to stand upright, and is commonly used for powders, spices, dried fruit & nuts, mayonnaise, candy or ready to drink beverages.  Doypack packaging has seen an increase in popularity in recent years due to the fact that they are easy to use.

For this, the company has purchased the GUALAPACK line from Italian company Navatta Group for some 700,000 euros, Sughd governor’s press center says.

It is reportedly the first experience of producing baby foods, juices and smoothies in doypacks in Tajikistan.

According to the press center, domestic fruit paste is the main raw material for those products and Obi Zulol has concluded contracts with farming units across the country on purchasing 20 tons of fruits.

Currently, the work on installation of the technological lines is under the way and after being introduced into operation they will create more than 50 new jobs.

Juices and smoothies will be supplied to domestic market as well as to markets in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.

Obi–Zulol is a fully operational bottled water and soft drinks producer located in northern Tajikistan, in proximity to Khujand.  The plant was built by SASIB Beverages in 1999-2000 and financed with participation of the EBRD and Aqua Crystal.
