NGO Sadoqat has successfully commissioned the two newly built and refurbished classrooms of Secondary School No 51, in Gazantarak Village, in Devashtich district of Sughd province, north of Tajikistan.

Press release issued by NGO Sadogat notes that this project will enable the school to offer a well-equipped, safe, and comfortable space for students, and improve the access to quality education.

The official launch ceremony took place on April 27 with the participation of the representatives of NGO Sadoqat, Devashtich district local authorities, as well as Embassy of Germany in Dushanbe, and members of the local community.

NGO Sadoqat joined this community-driven project, in order to support the completion of two additional classrooms.  The project benefited from crowdfunding including donations by individuals via the platform GlobalGiving (www.globalgiving.org), as well as a number of donor, commercial and charity organizations.  The initiative received significant contributions from Peshraft Public Charity Organization, German Embassy in Dushanbe, Zeppelin Tajikistan, The First Microfinance Bank of Tajikistan, and Northern High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. In addition, Mr. Philip de Leon, the Chairman, and Ms. Elena Son, Executive Director of the US-Tajikistan Business Council, Mr. Rayyan Merchant, Mr. Robert Willard, Mr. Ian Harper, Ms. Elisa Boschetti, Mr. Ismail Charania, Mr. Shavkatjon Mamadjonov, Mr. Davronjon Okhunjonov, Ms. Muattar Bashirova, Ms. Zumrad Kataeva, and many other true friends have substantially supported the NGO Sadoqat, both financially and in-kind.

“Development of education, access to quality education and favorable conditions for children who are the future of Tajikistan are crucial.  The goal of the German Embassy is also to provide as much support as possible for such various, socio-economic projects, especially in the field of education across Tajikistan. We are very happy that the project we supported has successfully completed at School No 51 in Gazantarak village of Devashtich district.  We thank all the colleagues and initiators for their participation and hard work. We wish them every success in their future endeavors!” – said Dir. Andreas Prothmann, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Tajikistan.

Moreover, “The right of every individual to basic education is essential. We are pleased to have had this opportunity to support the residents of Gazantarak Village in improving their access to education. I believe this project will benefit the local community by opening up opportunities for local children to get quality education and find their pathway in life. This way we make our small contribution towards the achievement of SDGs in Tajikistan” – highlighted Ms. Nigora Negmatullaeva, CEO of NGO Sadoqat.  “I would like to take this opportunity to offer our heartfelt gratitude on behalf of our team to our generous donors, and true friends from around the world, who supported us in many ways, be it through direct financial contribution or encouragement of supporters, or by sharing our messages via social media platforms e.g., Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin. We would also like to thank the Devashtich district local authorities, Devashtich education department, Gazantarak jamoat authorities, local mahalla committee, and School No. 51, for their comprehensive facilitation in the process of putting this idea into practice” – she added.

All in all, “By realizing the dire need for additional school desks, seats and quality space, and other equipment, we kick-started this initiative by relying solely on the power that lied in own community.  Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the local community was not able to help us cover the project’s cost to the full extent” mentioned Ms. Barno Juraeva, School No 51 Headmaster.  “Thankfully, the NGO Sadoqat has positively reacted to our request, and has put all possible effort into helping us finalize this project. We sincerely thank Sadoqat as well as our esteemed donors for extending a helping hand despite the financial pressures and challenges that the global community has been facing these days”, she concluded.

NGO Sadoqat is a nonprofit and noncommercial organization established in 2000 and officially registered with the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan. Sadoqat is committed to improving rural lives through thoughtful partnerships and practice.  The organization implemented over 20 projects in various fields, including women and youth empowerment, reproductive health, healthy lifestyle among the youth, English skills improvement, and education and healthcare infrastructure with the support of various donor institutions during 20 years of its operation.
