Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon on Tuesday extended condolences to his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, over the severe disaster of a tornado outbreak hitting central parts of the United States.

In his message, Rahmon, on behalf of the Tajik government and people, expressed deep sympathies and sincere condolences to the American people over the severe casualties and property loss caused by the multiple tornadoes hitting six central U.S. states.

Tajik leader also wished recovery to all the injured. 

U.S. media reports say at least 30 tornadoes were reported across six states: Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi and Tennessee on December 11.

Citing state and local officials, CNN reported on December 12 that more than 80 people are feared dead, including at least 70 in Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera reported don December 12 that Kentucky governor says up to 100 people could be dead in the state as casualties also reported from other states.

US President Joe Biden has pledged support to states affected by a swarm of devastating tornadoes that demolished homes, leveled businesses and left at least 100 people feared dead.

Describing the tornadoes as likely “one of the largest” storm outbreaks in history, President Biden on December 12 approved an emergency disaster declaration for the worst-hit state of Kentucky, according to Al-Jazeera
