Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS – Afghanistan power utility company) said early Thursday that the electricity supply from Uzbekistan has returned to normal after output fell by 60% due to technical problems.

A statement released by DABS, in particular, said that the problem at a power station in Uzbekistan has now been resolved and that electricity supply to Afghanistan has been restored.

Two days ago, Uzbekistan was forced to cut supply by 60%, which left large parts of Afghanistan without power.

Ariana News says Afghanistan relies heavily on imported electricity from Central Asian countries.

Kabul in particular faces major power shortages during both winter and summer.

The drop in supply reportedly came just days after DABS officials called on politicians, former government officials and businessmen to settle their outstanding bills with the power supply company.
