On the sidelines of the CIS and Central Asia + Russia summits, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on October 14 met in Astana., Kazakhstan with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. 

Tajik leader, in particular, expressed satisfaction with the positive results of the development of partnership and allied relations between the two countries and called the meeting an appropriate opportunity to discuss the state and prospects of friendship, cooperation and good neighborliness.

The heads of state reportedly discussed at the meeting issues of expanding cooperation in priority and fruitful areas for the parties and named the full implementation of previously adopted agreements as a priority goal.

They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
