The State Security Service of Uzbekistan discovered a cache of 26 kg of drugs near the border with Tajikistan, press service of the State Security Service reports.

It is noted that the cache was discovered during the operational-search activities carried out by the State Security Service in the Samarkand region and the border troops.

A cache with 20 kg 3 g of opium and 6 kg 5 g of hashish was located near the Uzbek-Tajik state border passing through the territory of the Bulungur region.

Drugs were seized by law enforcement officers in a procedural manner.

On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under articles 246 (smuggling) and 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage and other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as their sale).

Currently, measures are being taken to identify the citizens involved in the crime.
