Media reports say 30 people were killed and 73 others injured in a Russian missile attack on an apartment building in Ukraine's eastern city of Dnipro on January 14.

Deutsche Welle (DW), citing the Ukrainian armed forces, says over 70 apartments were destroyed by the strike, which was carried out using a Russian Kh-22 missile.

The devastating strike in Dnipro hit the entrance of a nine-story building, turning several floors into smoldering rubble.

The Dnipro mayor has warned there may be no further survivors after Saturday's Russian missile strike on the apartment building.

“The chances of saving people now are minimal," Dnipro's Mayor Borys Filatov told the Reuters news agency.  “I think the number of dead will be in the dozens.”

Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odessa were also hit on Saturday in attacks, which Moscow said were targeted at Ukraine's military and energy infrastructure.

Energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions had reportedly been badly hit.  It has been two weeks since the last wave of Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid.  Following the attacks, Ukrainian state energy company Ukrenergo temporarily imposed round-the-clock consumption limits for all regions.

The BBC says that speaking to state TV in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that military operations were going to plan.  Mr. Putin reportedly said “everything is developing within the framework of the plan of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff."

In his evening address on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly noted he had received many messages of sympathy from around the world and condemned the Russian people's “cowardly silence” over the attack.

It is to be noted that it has been two weeks since the last wave of Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid.
