Bobojon-Ghafourov district has been the second leg of Emomali Rahmon’s working visit to northern Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, President Emomali Rahmon yesterday visited the commercial cooperative of the collective farm named after Tursunboy Kushatov, where he got acquainted with the process of setting up new orchards.

Employees of this collective farm reportedly have rich experience in rationally using land, cultivating crops and manufacturing agricultural products.

Emomali Rahmon planted fruit trees in the newly built intensive orchard and met with gardeners and other employees of the collective farm named after Tursunboy.

The Tajik president’s official website notes that this year, the farmers of Tursunboy Kushatov collective farm’s commercial cooperative have restored a total of 35 hectares of old orchards, most of which are intensive orchards.

Currently, there are 73,000 hectares of orchards and 13,467 hectares of vineyards in the northern province of Sughd.

Last year, Sughd farmers reportedly produced 124,477, tons of fruits, including 55,847 tons of apricots and 38,429 tons of apples, despite the early spring cold, which had a negative effect on the harvest of orchards.

While in Bobojon-Ghafourov district, the head of state reportedly got acquainted with the process of erecting a new vineyard in Somgor area, and participated in the ceremony of putting a horticultural water supply line into use.

The water supply line was brought to this place from the first channel of Somgor with the installation of new engines.

More than 22,000 hectares of arable land in Bobojon-Ghafourov district will be supplied with clean water through electric water pumping stations.

There are a total of 33 water pumping stations in the district, the largest of which are the "Khojaboqirgon" and "Somgor" water supply networks, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

It is planned to build 500 hectares of new vineyards in Sughd province with propping method this year.

Yesterday, Emomali Rahmon also participated in an official opening ceremony of a seasonal vineyard in "Vahdat National Garden" in Bobojon-Ghafourov district.
