Emomali Rahmon, speaking today, on the Day of Knowledge, at the Khatlon State Medical University in Dangara, announced the solution of one of the most acute problems in the country's education – the lack of teachers in general education institutions.
According to the press service of the head of state, he noted that this year 3,432 young teachers have already been sent to work in educational institutions in Tajikistan, and 49% of them are already actively working.
However, in his speech, the President stressed another urgent problem – the failure to fulfill the plan of admission of applicants to vocational education institutions.
According to him, at the first stage of admission of applicants through the National Test Center, only 35 thousand graduates out of 106 thousand were admitted to higher educational institutions.
"The situation in this area requires serious efforts, especially in remote mountainous areas," the President said.
The President cited the example of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, where 993 out of 2,400 graduates entered higher education institutions. This indicator, in his opinion, is good at the regional level, however, in the whole country he considers it insufficient.
The head of state also announced plans to build more than 200 new schools in Tajikistan by the end of this year.
According to him, 57 new schools for 15,000 places have already been built and put into operation over the past 7 months.
In addition, it was stressed that 7.2 billion somoni has been allocated for education this year, which is 14% more than in 2022.
"This figure is almost 19% of the annual state budget," President Emomali Rahmon stressed.
He noted that "with such measures and funding, Tajikistan is striving to solve key problems in education and increase the availability of educational opportunities for the younger generation."
