Media reports say an Israeli strike targeting a Hamas commander in the densely populated Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza has left catastrophic damage and killed a large number of people, according to eyewitnesses and medics in the enclave.

CNN says the devastation wrought by the strike triggered a fresh groundswell of grief over spiraling civilian casualties, as Gazans awoke to another communications blackout Wednesday morning.

Survivors and eyewitness reportedly spoke of apocalyptic scenes in the aftermath of the strike, which tore a massive crater through the middle of the crowded camp.

According to CNN, a statement by the Israel Defense Forces says the airstrike targeted and killed Ibrahim Biari, whom it described as one of the Hamas commanders responsible for the October 7 attack on Israel, which left than 1,400 people dead and hundreds taken hostage.

Al Jazeera reports that Hamas has rejected its commander was present.

Gaza’s health ministry has given a “final warning” to the world, saying that the main generators at two key hospitals in the territory are “hours away” from completely shutting down.

Health ministry in Gaza reportedly says more than 50 people were killed in the attack on October 31 and 150 others were wounded.

Gaza’s health ministry has given a “final warning” to the world, saying that the main generators at two key hospitals in the territory are “hours away” from completely shutting down, Al Jazeera reported yesterday.

Humanitarian groups have condemned Israel’s attack on Jabalya refugee camp, saying the air raid should be a “wake-up call” to world leaders to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.

At least 8,525 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7.  More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel.
