Media reports say that according to its flight schedule Turkmenistan Airlines (Turkmenistan’s national air carrier) has not resumed flights on the Ashgabat-Moscow air route, suspended in August 2023..

Turkmen.news reported on November 1 that now the country’s national air carrier has actually completely canceled these flights.

“Now the Ashgabat-Moscow flight is completely excluded from the flight schedule,” Turkmen.news says noting that the new schedule now includes only flights from Ashgabat to Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic.

Recall, Turkmenistan Airlines suspended flights from Ashgabat to Moscow in early August due what it called “a situation in Moscow's airspace.”

Turkmenistan’s national airline announced a suspension of flights to Moscow on August 2, citing safety concerns amidst Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian capital. The decision reportedly came after a thorough assessment of the situation in the Moscow air zone.  The airline had been operating flights on the Ashgabat-Moscow-Ashgabat route, but due to the increasing risk, the decision to suspend this service was made.

Turkmenistan has become the only country that reacted so radically to the situation in Moscow’s airspace.
