A senior investigator at the Khujand police department has bene detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe of 6,000 US dollars, the press center of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption reported on February 13.

The press center says T. Abdurahimzoda received a bribe of 6,000 US dollars from a suspect in document forgery so as not to bring him to criminal responsibility.

Abdurahimzoda was reportedly caught red handed in Bobojon-Gahfourov district on January 27 while taking bribe from H.A.

Criminal proceedings have bene instituted against Abdurahimzoda under the provisions of Article 319 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code — accepting a bribe by an official; an investigation is under way, according to the anticorruption agency.

This article stipulates that accepting a bribe by an official is punishable by a fine of 5,475 somonis to 12,775 somonis or a jail term of three years to seven years.
