Tajikistan and Turkmenistan will develop a unified pricing policy for cargo transportation and logistics, says the press center of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan (MoT).

The agreement on this subject was reportedly reached during a meeting of the Minister of Tajikistan, Mr. Azim Ibrohim, with the Director-General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mr. Mametkhan Chakiyev, which took place here on April 4 on the sidelines of an official visit of the National Leader of the people of Turkmenistan, Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, to Tajikistan.

Ibrahim and Chakiyev agreed to establish close and mutually beneficial cooperation between the logistics centers of the two countries, adhere to a unified approach to pricing, and introduce optimal tariffs for international cargo delivery services.

The MoT press center notes that issues related to the opportunities of expanding and developing ties in the transport and logistics areas sector were also discussed at a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

“Particular attention was paid to the prospects of developing the transit delivery of Tajik goods via Turkmen territory and creating of a transport corridor that will connect the two countries and provide Tajikistan with access to the Caspian Sea,” the MoT press center says.

The parties reportedly agreed to take efforts to achieve the main goal – creating a powerful and modern infrastructure ensuring the integration of transport systems of Central Asia and other regions.

Turkmenistan is reportedly a key transit country for the entry of Tajik cargo carriers into the Middle East countries.
