In Tajikistan, on August 22-23, local mudflows are expected in the mountainous and foothill areas of the RRP, Sughd region and in the west of the GornoBadakhshan Autonomous Region, the Emergency Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan warns.

In this regard, the Committee strongly recommends that residents and visitors of the country be especially careful when entering reservoirs, hiking trails and mountain hikes on these days.

It is also recommended to be careful when moving through passes and mountain roads. The Committee calls on the population to carry out work on cleaning mudflows, rivers, canals and other bodies of water located near or on the territory of their residence in order to minimize risks.

According to the ministry, in the first six months of this year, 15 people died as a result of natural disasters in Tajikistan. Of these, nine were victims of mudslides, four died from a lightning strike, and two people died from landslides.

The total damage caused by natural disasters during the specified period amounted to 130.66 million somoni.

During this period, 532 emergencies were registered, which is 57 more cases compared to the same period last year.
