In Dushanbe, three facts of driving under the influence of alcohol have been recorded over the past day, according to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the capital. Among the violators were a taxi driver and two drivers of private cars.

“The drivers of the cars “Hyundai” – Umejon N., “Hyundai Starex” – Saidbek B. and “BYD” – Rano B. were caught driving under the influence of alcohol. Administrative protocols have been drawn up against them under Article 332 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Tajikistan,” – said the ministry in a statement.

In accordance with the law, violators face a fine of 300 indicators for calculations (21.6 thousand somoni, one indicator is 72 somoni) or administrative arrest for a period of 15 days, as well as deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to five years.

According to official data, 7% of accidents in Tajikistan are related to driving while intoxicated. At the same time, the main causes of traffic accidents are speeding (58.6%), driving into the oncoming lane (25%), violation of traffic rules (10%) and other types of violations.

In the first half of this year, 539 road accidents occurred in Tajikistan, which is 11.8% more than in the same period last year (492 accidents). As a result of these incidents, 236 people were killed and 570 were injured.

Compared to last year, the number of injured increased by 13.3%, and the death toll increased by 22.3%.
