Over a period of nearly ten months, since March 2024, 23 members of seven families were murdered in the northern city of Konibodom, leaving residents in fear. Recently, the authorities announced the arrest of four suspects.

This marks the second time officials have commented on the serial murders in Konibodom.  Earlier, First Deputy Interior Minister Abdurakhmon Alamshozoda had described the incidents as “ordinary murders.” However, following this statement, two more attacks occurred, resulting in the deaths of 10 members from three families.

The attacks

December 8–9: Six members of a family, including four children, were killed in Shurobqala village.

December 15–16: Four members of two families were murdered in Hisorak village.

On December 21, 2024, the Prosecutor-General’s Office announced that the "Konibodom murders have been solved," and suspects had been arrested.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Solehjon Khudoiberdiyev, 26, from Gulbogh village subordinated to Konibodom.
  • Ahadjon Tukhtayev, 27, from Gulbogh village subordinated to Konibodom.
  • Bakhtiyor Ravshanov, 36, from Sandjidzor village subordinated to Konibodom.
  • Manouchehr Odilov, 28, from Hamroboyev village subordinate for Konibodom.

Family statements

  • Solehjon Khudoiberdiyev: His grandmother, Galiya Akhmedulina, stated that he was arrested on December 19 at their home.  She couldn’t confirm his whereabouts on December 8 and 15 but claimed he was patrolling the streets at night after the murders. Khudoiberdiyev was previously incarcerated, but the reason remains unclear.
  • Bakhtiyor Ravshanov: Also Akhmedulina's grandson, Ravshanov was arrested based on Khudoiberdiyev’s testimony.  His wife, Zarnigor Barotova, stated he was detained on December 19 after visiting his sick father in the hospital.  Barotova, who does not believe her husband committed the crimes, revealed that Ravshanov had four children (ages 2, 7, 10, and 12).
  • Ahadjon Tukhtayev: Neighbors of Ahadjon Tukhtayev described him as a butcher who previously served prison time.  Tukhtayev's mother has relocated to a relative’s house.
  • Manouchehr Odilov: Relatives of Manouchehr Odilov confirmed that he had been imprisoned before but declined to provide further details.  His mother, Marhabo Odilova, stated that her son was arrested on December 19, and she has not seen him since.

The General Prosecutor’s statement provided no additional information about the suspects' previous criminal records.
