The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, exchanged congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Tajik president’s official website reports.

“It is gratifying that over the years, the relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries have steadily developed and now encompass various areas of mutual interest,” Emomali Rahmon said in his telegram.

Expressing satisfaction with the current level of cooperation, the President of Tajikistan emphasized the country's interest “in further expansion of comprehensive interstate relations.”

“We hope that the good Tajik-Kuwaiti ties, thanks to our joint efforts, will continue to grow, enriched with new practical examples in line with the fundamental interests of our peoples.  In this context, I emphasize our full readiness for the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the fruitful dialogue between our sides during my official visit to the State of Kuwait,” said the Tajik leader.

In his congratulatory telegram, the Emir of Kuwait reportedly emphasized “the constant interest in strengthening good relations and connections, in bringing the framework of our cooperation to broader horizons.”

“I would like to express my boundless joy, Your Excellency, at your official visit to the State of Kuwait in November 2024, which concluded with results that are beneficial for the development of strong ties between our two countries.

“Taking this opportunity, I also congratulate you, Your Excellency, on the blessed Eid al-Fitr holiday.  I ask the Almighty to bring our countries and the friendly peoples of our nations, as well as the Muslim Ummah, with goodness, happiness, and blessings, to this happy occasion once again,” added the Emir of Kuwait.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait were established on March 31, 1995.

On June 23, 2013, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Kuwait was officially opened.

The President of Tajikistan paid four official and state visits to the State of Kuwait (April 17-19, 1995; June 23-25, 2013; May 15-17, 2016; and November 3-5, 2024).
