In the Leilek district of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, the construction of houses for displaced persons from those territories that were exchanged with Tajikistan will be completed in the near future. Currently, the houses are built by 50-60%, according to Turmush, citing the district akimat.

"A total of 76 residential buildings are being built in the Leilek district for residents of some of the exchanged territories. Currently, 60 houses are being built in the village of Razzakov in the Ayyl aimag of Kulundu, and 16 houses in the village of Maksat. In total, about 200 workers are employed at the construction site, the work has been completed by 50-60%. Residents of the villages of Maksat, Sada, Razzakov and Selken of Leilek district will be resettled in them," the local administration said in a statement.

They noted that after the completion of the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and the exchange of some areas between the two republics, construction of new residential buildings for residents of the Batken region to be resettled began.

According to the press service of the presidential envoy to the Batken region, a total of 257 houses for displaced persons from the exchanged territories are being built in the Leilek and Batken districts.

In February of this year, the head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Kyrgyz Republic and co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission on the Delimitation and Demarcation of the State Border Kamchybek Tashiev spoke for the first time about which areas Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan exchanged.

"When describing the border of the Leilek district, 155 hectares of the Kairagach site of Tajikistan and 35 hectares of land of the Kairagach enclave were transferred to the Kyrgyz side. The total area is 190 hectares. Instead, Kyrgyzstan transferred 21 hectares of the Saada site, 23.5 hectares of the Razzakov site, Selkan – 4 hectares, Maity – 7 hectares, Proletarsk – 12.5 hectares, Ulak-Zhai – 15 hectares, Ak-Aryk – 7 hectares, Kara-Bak – 65 hectares. Instead of the Kairagach enclave site, 35 hectares were transferred from the Maita site. Total – 190 hectares. We received 190, we gave 190," he said, in particular, on the exchange in the Leilek district.
