The man who attacked police officers in Moscow with a knife turned out to be Sheravgan Kunjumov, a 25-year–old native of Saratov and a Russian citizen, the Agency found out from Rosreestr data.
The incident occurred on August 27 on Shchelkovsky highway. The man threw two molotov cocktails towards the cars of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and SBI (State Budgetary Institution) Zhilishchnik, after which he attacked police officers with a knife who arrived to detain him.
On the same day, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation announced the detention of a "foreign citizen", against whom a criminal case was opened on encroachment on the life of law enforcement officers.
The Baza telegram channel, citing sources in the Interior Ministry, clarified that the attacker was a "26–year–old citizen of Tajikistan."
In fact, the detainee turned out to be 25-year–old Russian citizen Sheravgan Kunjumov, the Agency found. He was born and registered in Saratov, where he received a Russian passport at the age of 14, and later moved to Balashikha. The man's data remained in the leaked database of Moscow schools for 2015.
According to the newspaper, in 2017, Kunjumov was detained on charges of preparing bombings in a shopping mall and on public transport, and in 2019 he was sentenced to almost 8 years in a penal colony, charged under seven articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including for preparing for a terrorist attack.
According to the court's decision, Kunjumov was a "supporter of radical Islamist views" and, at the suggestion of a member of the Islamic State terrorist group, he and three Tajik citizens were preparing terrorist attacks. In the court's decision, Kunjumov is called a Russian citizen.
In the spring of this year, he was released, but the court appointed him administrative supervision for 3 years and imposed restrictions on him, including forbidding him to travel outside the region of registration. According to the leaks, the man has recently been registered in Balashikha.
Kunjumov could have violated the rules of supervision by leaving Balashikha near Moscow for Moscow without obtaining permission from the police to leave.
