On September 11, the Chinese Embassy in Dushanbe hosted a briefing for journalists on the results of the Tianjin SCO summit and the visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to China.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Tajikistan Guo Zhijun noted that the last meeting of the heads of state was the largest in the history of the organization: more than 20 leaders of countries and 10 heads of international structures discussed issues of security, economy and global governance.

The main event of the summit was the nomination by Chinese President Xi Jinping of the Global Governance Initiative aimed at strengthening the rule of international law, developing multilateralism and forming a fair system of international relations.

According to the Chinese diplomat, the summit brought eight key results, including the development of the SCO development strategy for 10 years, the creation of "four security centers", including the Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe, the launch of the SCO Development Bank and the formation of new platforms for cooperation in energy, digital economy and science.

Special attention was paid to the bilateral relations between Dushanbe and Beijing.

As the ambassador noted, China has become Tajikistan's largest trading partner for the first time: in the first half of the year, trade between the two countries exceeded $3 billion.

The leaders agreed to develop joint projects in the field of electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, "green" energy and transport connectivity.

Following the negotiations, several documents related to the digital economy, low-carbon development and infrastructure were signed.

"Tajikistan will always be a reliable partner of China," – the ambassador quoted Tajik President’s words.

In addition, the diplomat announced the launch of new Dushanbe-Xi'an and Dushanbe-Guangzhou flights, which are scheduled to take place in the near future. And in October, the Days of Chinese Culture will be held in Dushanbe, during which concerts, exhibitions and other events will take place.

Answering the "Asia-Plus" question about Xi Jinping's new initiative, the Ambassador stressed that Tajikistan fully supports its principles – equality of sovereignty, the rule of international law, human-centricity and practical orientation.

According to him, the country intends to actively cooperate within the framework of this initiative through the SCO platforms, the development of a regulatory framework and joint actions against global challenges, from climate change to combating transnational crime.

According to the diplomat, the partnership between the two countries goes beyond economics and politics, encompassing transport, culture and global initiatives, which sets the tone for the further development of relations between Dushanbe and Beijing.

"China is ready to work with all countries, including Tajikistan, within the framework of the Global Governance Initiative to strengthen communication and cooperation, form more powerful efforts, jointly seek solutions to pressing global governance issues and achieve more visible results," – the ambassador said.
