Tajikistan’s Ministry of Education and Science has announced plans to build and renovate 165 public school buildings in the Khatlon region by the end of 2027, creating educational spaces for over 53,300 students.

The initiative is part of the second phase of the State Program for the Development of Educational Institutions in Khatlon (2022–2027). The update was shared by Bakhtovar Fayzullozoda, head of the Ministry’s Capital Construction Directorate, during a recent working meeting dedicated to program implementation.

The program is aimed at improving the quality of education and providing modern learning environments across the region. Fayzullozoda noted that during the first phase (2022–2024), substantial construction and renovation work was completed, significantly upgrading the infrastructure of local schools.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Homid Hoshimzoda, alongside senior officials from the ministry’s central office. Hoshimzoda emphasized the importance of effectively implementing phase two and gave specific instructions to ensure the uninterrupted progress of construction and renovation projects.

Participants also exchanged views on current challenges and priorities in the development of Khatlon’s education system.

Meanwhile, just a week earlier, President Emomali Rahmon visited the Temurmalik district, where he inaugurated a newly constructed Presidential School. The school, originally planned as a general public institution, was upgraded to a Presidential-level facility upon the president’s recommendation.

It will serve students from Kangurt and Huseynobod jamoats, and was funded by entrepreneurs Shamsullo and Mahmadzohir Sohibov.

In the same district, President Rahmon also opened new school buildings for School No. 10 in Chavrok and School No. 25 in Chashma, each designed to accommodate 480 students. Both sites now feature early childhood development centers.
