The Day of the Capital of Tajikistan, which is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of April, falls on April 18 this year.
On this occasion, on April 18 at 9:00 AM, Dushanbe will host the traditional international half marathon, featuring athletes from Tajikistan and other countries. The 21 km 97.5 m race will start from the highway near “Navruzgoh” and finish at the same location.
Concert and Cultural Program
The main concert and cultural program dedicated to this day will take place in the cultural hall of the Children’s School of Arts named after Odina Khoshim at 2:00 PM, as reported by “Asia-Plus” from the Executive Body of State Authority of Dushanbe city.
Before the concert, the awarding of the winners of city competitions will take place at the same venue. As clarified by the department, the results of contests in the healthcare and education sectors of Dushanbe, such as “Hospital of the Year,” “Primary Healthcare Facility of the Year,” “Doctor of the Year,” “Family Doctor of the Year,” “Mid-level Medical Worker of the Year,” “Mentor of the Year,” “Teacher of the Year,” “Student of the Year,” “Dushanbe City Chairman’s Scholar,” and others, will be announced in a formal setting.
The winners will be rewarded with accolades from the Dushanbe mayor’s office.
Following the award ceremony, a cultural program will be held featuring performances by well-known musical and dance groups, as well as popular pop artists.

Sports Events and Other Festive Activities
Currently, sports events are already taking place in Dushanbe, including mini-football tournaments among teenagers and contests among the city’s music schools dedicated to Capital Day. Additionally, events titled “My Contribution to My City” have been organized, and slogans and banners praising the capital have already been displayed on the streets and squares of the city.
In the four districts of the city, especially in parks of culture and recreation, festive evenings and cultural-sporting events will be held in honor of Capital Day.
The Chairman of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali, allocated more than 590 thousand somoni from the Capital Development Fund for the organization of competitions.
It is worth noting that, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays,” Capital Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of April since March 1, 2005.
