DUSHANBE, December 24, 2012, Asia-Plus — Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, an international leader in sustainable development, has opened the Visitor Center and headquarters of its flagship project in Tajikistan, press release issued by Qatari Diar on December 24 said.
The center reportedly marks a new milestone in the fast-developing Diar Dushanbe.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Anvar Najmidinov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management, along with officials from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Dushanbe Municipality, and a number of VIP guests. Large number of interested Tajik buyers also attended the opening ceremony.
Eng. Mohammed Bin Ali Al-Hedfa, GCEO of Qatari Diar, said: “Tajikistan is in an ideal geographical location, and provides the right climate to attract regional and international business and tourism investors. We are working tirelessly to create a fully-integrated modern living environment through Diar Dushanbe that will be a model for development in Central Asia.”
Diar Dushanbe will create an integrated community development on the idyllic waterfront of the Hisor Canal, overlooking the Kuli Javonon Lake. In addition to delivering world-class residential units, Diar Dushanbe will create a highly-desirable business center and retail space in the heart of the Tajik capital. The project will provide 400 opportunities when the hotel, restaurants and other social amenities open.
“The architecture of this project and the sustainability standards it meets make it one of a kind; we consider it the root of a paradigm shift in our project development all around the world. We are proud that this unique project will form a central part of Qatari Diar’s growing portfolio of ambitious developments across the world,” continued Al-Hedfa. “The project will give an additional push to the Tajik economy through job opportunities created across a variety of sectors.”
Boasting Tajikistan’s first indoor ice-skating rink and a host of novel attractions, Diar Dushanbe is set to become an ultimate leisure destination in Tajikistan and neighboring countries, due to unique characteristics including use of efficient energy technology, earthquake-resistant construction, and sensor-activated lighting, press release said. It is the first real estate development in Tajikistan to allow foreign ownership of units.
“We are committed to every step of this project, which we see as a building block of Qatari-Tajik relations,” added Al-Hedfa.
Additionally, the development is equipped with fibre optic networking offering high-speed ICT connectivity, an innovative waste collection system, advanced water filtration mechanism, and water and electricity storage capacity for up to four days.
The Visitor Center and headquarter form part of Phase One of Diar Dushanbe, which also features a residential building comprising 67 units, an office building and a central piazza. Five local contractors have been involved in site preparation, earthworks, utilities replacement, site fencing, and construction of Visitor Center, after a landmark bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) in August 2011 between Qatari Diar and the Tajik Government reportedly paved the way for project initiation. An international firm has been appointed to undertake the construction of Phase One.
The Diar Dushanbe project is being overseen by Qatari Diar – Tajikistan, a limited local company wholly-owned by Qatari Diar. Qatari Diar – Tajikistan has also invited international consultants to tender for detail design services for the development’s second and third phases, which include residential and commercial buildings with extensive retail and office space.
Diar Dushanbe was named the ‘Best Decorative’ architectural project in Tajikistan for 2011 by Tajikistan’s Agency for Construction and Architecture and the Association of Builders.
In addition to its on-going contribution to the country’s real estate sector, Qatari Diar is actively furthering the expansion of other sectors in Tajikistan, including tourism, hospitality and commerce.
Recently, the company sponsored the 2nd Tajikistan National Conference on Tourism, which brought together key stakeholders to discuss the state of affairs and the sector’s contribution to the national economy. In May 2010, Qatari Diar also assisted with the success of the Tajikistan Economic Forum, held under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
