DUSHANBE, February 22, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Afghan Minister of Higher Education Ubaidullah Ubaid heading Afghan educational delegation arrived in Dushanbe yesterday evening on a working visit.

“The delegation members include Khoushhal Tasali, an official with the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan, and Dr. Shirin Aga Zarif, Chancellor of Kabul Medical University and the purpose of the visit is for the delegation to discuss with Tajik colleagues bilateral education cooperation,” Ms. Farida Gadoyeva, a chief specialist with the department for international cooperation, Ministry of Education of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Tajik Minister of Education Nouriddin Saidov is holding meeting with the Afghan delegation today and two memoranda on cooperation between Tajik National University and Herat University and between Tajik State Teachers’ Training University and Parwan University will be signed.

Today, the Afghan delegation is also scheduled to meet with chancellors of Tajik universities located n Dushanbe.

Besides, Afghan Minister of Higher Education Ubaidullah Ubaid will meet with Afghan students studying in Tajikistan today afternoon.  The meeting will take place at Tajik Medical University in Dushanbe, Gadoyeva said.

Every year, the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan allocates 50 seats to Afghan students in Tajik higher educational institutions.  More than 260 Afghan students are currently studying in Tajikistan.
