DUSHANBE, March 11, 2013, Asia-Plus  — “The Islamic Revival Party (IRP) will not participate in by-election that will be held in Vose constituency # 39 on May 5,” the IRP deputy chairman Mahmadali Hayit told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“We consider that there is no speaking about fair and transparent elections when representatives of political parties are not allowed to work with polling stations,” Hayit noted.

According to him, representative of the IRP has been included on the district electoral commission.  “However, the fate of election is decided not in district electoral commissions but in polling stations,” the IRP deputy leader stressed.

We will recall that the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) set the Vose constituency by-election for May 5.

By president’s decree Rustam Latipov, who was representing the Vose district in Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyndagon) of parliament, was appointed acting chairperson of the Vose district, Khatlon province.  Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov resigned his seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

Meanwhile, the Communist Party (CPT) leader Shodi Shabdolov told Asia-Plus in early March that the CPT intends to nominate its candidate to run in the Vose constituency by-election.
