DUSHANBE, March 11, 2013, Asia-Plus – The Interior Ministry’s official website reports that a large amount of cannabis has been seized in the southern province of Khatlon.

A special operation carried out by officers from the Interior Ministry’s office in Khatlon on March 11 reportedly led to the arrest of 58-year-old resident of the Shouroobod district, Sodiq Ismatov, on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

Five packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to cannabis weighing 54.2 kilogram were confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug traffickers and an investigation is under way.
