DUSHANBE, May 12, 2013, Asia-Plus – Over the first four months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of some 3 billion somoni worth of industrial goods, according to the Ministry of energy and Industries (MoEI).

Compared to the same period of last year the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 105.8 percent.

Processing industry has reportedly accounted for 62.3 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 24.7 percent and mining industry has accounted for 13.0 percent.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s large industrial enterprises have reduced production over the same four-month period.  The Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), Tojikcement (Dushanbe cement plant) and a number of cotton ginneries have reportedly reduced production for both objective and subjective reasons.

Thus, TALCO has reduced production by 30.1 million somoni, Tojikcement by 44.7 million somoni and the cotton ginneries by 74.7 million somoni.
