DUSHANBE, October 3, 2008, Asia-Plus — A process of restructuring the Tajik national air carrier, TajikAir, will be completed by the end of this year, Sanginmurod Nourulloyev, deputy director general of TajikAir, said in an interview with Asia-Plus today.
According to him, a gradual reorganization of the company is currently under way and “TajikAir will be divided into three divisions: air company; airport; and air navigation enterprise.” These enterprises will interact with each other on contractual basis, Nourulloyev said.
He noted that the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) and the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosComInvest) had endorsed a statement of assets and liabilities of the air company that will have a number affiliates.
By government’ resolution the mentioned enterprises will be reorganized into joint-stock companies that will give foreign investors an opportunity to launch additional flights, new air routes and purchase new aircraft.
We will recall that the government in July this year approved individual plans for restructuring four large state-run enterprises: Tajik Telecom (Tajikistan’s fixed-line telecommunications network); Teleradiocom; TajikAir; and Tojikhimprom (chemical plant in Yovon).
