DUSHANBE, July 2, 2013, Asia-Plus – The 1st Symposium of Tajik American Scholars took place in Washington on June 29.
Organized by Tajik American Association (TACA), the event reportedly brought together Tajik young researchers, who are currently studying or working in the United States. Being the first of its kind, the symposium provided platform for exchange of ideas.
Inaugurating the symposium, Tajik Ambassador to the United States Nouriddin Shamsov stressed that training of Tajik students and post-graduate students in the United States was of significant importance for Tajikistan and its development. “Scientific and educational cooperation is an important link in the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States,” Ambassador Shamsov said.
TACA President Vladimir Fedorenko also made a welcoming speech at the symposium.
Mr. Utkir Umarov, Economist, World Bank Tajikistan Mr. Poulot Poulotov, founder and the first Chancellor of Tajik Technological University and Mr. Umed Babakhanov, Editor-in-Chief of
Asia-Plus
addressed the symposium as guests.
On the conclusion of the symposium, a ceremonial dinner dedicated to the National Unity Day of Tajikistan was given.
“The events of such kind provide platform for our fellow countrymen working and studying in the United States for exchange of knowledge and experience,” TACA President Vladimir Fedorenko told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Tajik American Cultural Association (TACA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, cultural and educational organization aiming to promote cooperation and integration within Tajik community and fosters intercultural interaction among other communities in the United States.
