DUSHANBE, July 4, 2013 Asia-Plus — A new department has been established at Barqi Tojik (Tajik state-run electricity provider) – Electricity Sales Department.

Amonullo Sadulloyev, formerly head of Tajikenergosnab (Power Supply), has been appointed to head this department.

Some Tajik media outlets report that Amonullo Sadulloyev is brother of Hasan Asadullozoda, who is Chairman of the Board of Orienbonk and brother-in-law of President Emomali Rahmon.

The Barqi Tojik press center says director and engineer-in-chief of this department have been appointed by Barqi Tojik chairman.

“The Electricity Sales Department is engaged in the collection of funds for consumed electricity inside the country and it does not work with external consumers.  Amonullo Sadulloyev has worked with Barqi Tojik for a long time and he is an experienced specialist,” a source at Barqi Tojik said.

Meanwhile, the work on implementing the individual plan for restructuring Barqi Tojik designed for 2011-2018 is progressing.

Barqi Tojik is the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan.  The Government plans to unbundle Barqi Tojik and create an enabling environment for private sector investment in the power sector.  The main objectives of this project are to create three independent structures by unbundling Barqi Tojik: generation, transmission and distribution.
