DUSHANBE, July 12, 2013, Asia-Plus – Four separate operations carried out by officers from the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) this week have led to the seizure of more than 60 kilograms of narcotics.

The SCNS press center reports some 2 kilograms of hashish have been seized in the Shugnan district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

2.5 kilograms of raw opium and some 2 kilograms of cannabis have been seized at the Vahdat Township.  The narcotics were found hidden in a car belonging to resident of Kulob.  The preliminary investigation has established that he was going to get the narcotics to Vahdat-based penal colony No 3/2.

Besides, more than 55 kilograms of hashish have been seized in two separate operations carried out by security officers in the southern province of Khatlon.

A group of Afghan drug traffickers have illegally crossed the border river in the Panj district.  One of trespassers has been detained with 15 kilograms of hashish.

The operation carried out by officers from the SCNS’s office in the Hamadoni district has led to the seizure of more than 40 kilograms of hashish.  Two Afghan drug traffickers were reportedly wounded in exchange of fire but they managed to return to Afghan territory under the cloak of night.  More than 40 kilograms of hashish were found on the spot.
